How Payments and Verification Fees Work for Individuals

This article answers common questions about how billing works for individuals using ChainIT, including verification fees, prepaid balances, and what happens when verification expires.

Do I have to pay to use the ChainIT app?

No.
You can create and use a ChainIT account for free. You are only charged when you choose to complete identity verification or when a specific service requires payment.

What do individuals pay for on ChainIT?

Individuals may be charged for:

• Identity verification or reverification
• Verification add-ons requested by a connected service (for example, background checks or document checks)
• Optional platform services such as tokenization or data storage

You are never charged just for having an account or opening the app.

How do payments work?

ChainIT uses a pay-at-time-of-use model.

Before any paid service is performed:

• You are shown the cost
• You confirm who is paying (you or an organization)
• Payment is completed before the service runs

There is no post-use billing and no negative balances.

What is a prepaid balance?

A prepaid balance allows you to pay for services quickly without entering payment details each time.

Prepaid balances can be used for:

• Identity verification or reverification
• Verification add-ons
• Usage-based services

Balances are optional and are managed in the ChainIT Workspace (web).

Do I need a prepaid balance to use ChainIT?

No.
If you do not have a prepaid balance, you can pay at the moment a service is requested using a payment method.

What is auto-replenishment?

Auto-replenishment is an optional setting that reminds you to add funds to your prepaid balance when it drops below a set amount.

All payments must be approved by you. ChainIT doesn't automatically charge your credit card. Auto-replenishment can be turned on or off at any time in the ChainIT Workspace.

Who pays when I’m completing KYC for an organization?

It depends on how the organization set up the request.

• If the organization chose to cover the cost, payment is deducted from their balance.
• If they did not, you are prompted to pay before completing the task.

You are always shown who is paying before you confirm.

What happens when my identity verification expires?

When verification expires:

• Your identity records remain visible and owned by you.
• Verification-dependent actions are temporarily unavailable.
• You are shown options when you attempt an action.

You can choose to:

• Reverify to restore full eligibility, or
• Downgrade to an unverified state (free).

No action is forced.

Is ChainIT a subscription?

No. Individuals do not have traditional subscriptions.

Charges are tied to:

• Identity verification events
• Optional platform services performed by ChainIT

There are no recurring charges unless you explicitly choose to complete a paid service again.

Where can I see my billing history and receipts?

All billing details are available in the ChainIT Workspace (web), where you can:

• View your balance
• Review itemized charges
• Download receipts
• Manage payment methods

The mobile app only shows payment when required to complete an action.

What if I think a charge is incorrect?

If you have questions about a charge or who paid for a service, you can contact ChainIT Support for help.
